About me
Mary Lonker has spent 30 years in English Language Arts education, teaching both middle and high school students. She taught 8th grade English as well as over 20 years of high school English, including a decade in AP Language and Composition, and is certified to teach AP Seminar. In 2014, Mary was honored as the Region One Kansas Teacher of the Year and has achieved National Board Certification in ELA twice (2006 and 2016). Today, she serves as the ELA Program Manager for the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE), where she leads statewide initiatives to support educators in advancing literacy instruction and student learning.
