Kim M. Stewart is Professor and Chair of the Department of Applied Technology at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) in Hays, Kansas. A faculty member since 1997, he has led the department since 2012 and was instrumental in the design and construction of the Center for Applied Technology, a 58,000-square-foot state-of-the-art industrial education facility. Stewart holds both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Industrial Education from FHSU and has over 40 years of experience as an educator, administrator, and industry professional. His expertise includes engineering design technology, computer-aided drafting (CAD), construction technology, manufacturing technology, and STEM education. He has authored accreditation reports, developed new degree pathways, and secured more than $1 million in external funding to support applied technology and STEM initiatives. Stewart has presented nationally and internationally on STEM, CAD, and applied technology, served as a judge for TSA and TEECA contests, and advised award-winning student organizations. Recognized with multiple teaching, advising, and service awards—including the Fort Hays State University Edmund Shearer Faculty Advisor of the Year and the International STEM Education Association (ISEA) STEM Champion Award. He remains dedicated to advancing technology and engineering education through teaching, leadership, and community partnerships.
