About me
Barbra Gonzales earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Fashion Merchandising from Baker University and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Kansas State University. She taught Family and Consumer Sciences at Olathe North High school for 21 years. While at Olathe North, Barbra served on the BLT, sponsored cheerleading and drill team, assisted students in producing fashion show events at the school and in the community, and served as the FACS/Tech Ed Department Chair. During her tenure at Olathe North she taught a variety of FACS classes but her primary assignment and passion was teaching the Fashion, Apparel, Interior Design Pathway.
In her current role as Career & Technical Education Coordinator, she serves as a leader not only in the Olathe Public Schools but also through various organizations across the state including: K-ACTE, KLCTE, KSDE Professional Standards Board, and KACCTE Advisory Board. Barbra has deep roots in Career and Technical Education and hopes to use her years of experience to help guide and lead the CTE programs in Olathe.
On a personal note, Barbra is the proud mother of two girls, Maggie and Audra, and wife to her husband, David Gonzales, who is also a teacher. They have a family focused on education and empowering young men and women to be successful now and in their futures.
